Students from the Digital Media Club will be participating in the Hour of Code this December. According to the website, "The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics" (http://hourofcode.com/us). Learning computer science helps students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.  It also encourages creativity and logic.  These 21st Century skills will be very beneficial as students continue their education and move on to college and career.  The video below provides a basic introduction to the Hour of Code.

The AMS Digital Media Lab just acquired a cool new tool.  It's called the Swivl and it is a robotic mobile device that can be used with a smartphone or tablet to record videos and presentations.  Using a synced marker, the Swivl will follow your movement as it records.  Students plan to use this device when recording newscasts, interviews, and more.  We will post some of their creations so keep an eye out.  In the meantime, check out this short video that provides an overview of Swivl.
