Students in the Digital Media Club were invited to attend a Q&A with Alli Flicker, Smithtown graduate and news reporter for KHQ Local News in Spokane, Washington. Alli gave an overview of her experience as a production assistant at Nightly News with Brian Williams and her current position as a news reporter for KHQ-TV.
Students then had the opportunity to ask Alli questions, and ask they did! Based on their own experiences working on the AMS TV News and other projects in the digital media lab, students asked a variety of great questions. Alli was sure to stress how valuable it is for students to learn all aspects of the process including public speaking, video recording, editing and more.
Following the Q&A, Alli went into the digital media lab with club officers Andrew, Chloe and Zach to record a short segment that will be featured in next week's newscast. Be sure to check it out.
Overall, this was a great opportunity for students to see how the projects they are working on in the digital media lab translate into real world career opportunities.
